Sponsors of : Thadeus Project Band

Joe Neves [Director] and Smart Cleanings UK Ltd are one of the proud sponsors of "Thadeus Project ®" a very well know band since many years ago.

From their website here it is a bit of the story.

Like so many projects, Thadeus Project was not an idea hatched in a moment but over a lifetime. Not so much a birth but a rebirth that lead to a rekindling of the love for music and the passion to create it.

Two of the band's founding members, Ted Putbress and Glenn Folworski, experienced the 70's and all that rock and roll during that era had to offer. From Aerosmith to Neil Diamond, from Pink Floyd to The Doors, with Blues, R&B and Jazz all influencing what was being played. It was a vibrant time when bands formed and failed and re-formed again. It was no different for Ted and Glenn. They played together; they played apart. They kept in touch. But a time came for tough decisions and rock and roll would have to take a back seat to marriage, family and careers outside of the music industry.

Fast forward to the year 2000. Life is good. For Ted, success has come in the form of the Financial Services industry. A well-earned vacation to Mexico triggers a desire to make music a part of his life once more. Sitting in the terra cotta courtyard of his wife's ancestral home, Ted picks up his guitar again and begins to play. That's all it took.

Not long after returning home, Ted was introduced to the latest music technologies and was immediately blown away by the innovations in musical design. The possibilities exploded in his mind and were endless. The passion was back, and now the money was there with a business background to back it up. The concept was born: a band with a sound and purpose rooted in the 70's but with today's technologies transforming and recreating it in a fresh way. Re-enter Glenn. Jazzed by all Ted envisioned, Glenn couldn't sleep for weeks. Neither one has slept much since.

"Life is like music," states Ted. "It goes through a lot of different changes over time, but some things never change. The love of music is forever and we are glad to be on that train again."

In February 2004, Danger & Bliss was recorded and released. Then John Zver, a drummer Ted and Glenn had played with, signed on. John brought with him Kharis Washington, a bass player that John had played with for 14 years. Rounding out Thadeus Project was Linda Palm, a keyboardist and Ted's business associate.

In 2004 this new group of Ted, Glenn, John, Kharis and Linda went to work on new material and what was to become Just A Taste, a four song EP that highlighted the new combo, as well as an intimate acoustic version of "Once Upon a Time" from the Danger & Bliss CD. As Just a Taste... was hitting the record racks, "Windows" from Danger & Bliss hit #27 on the Indie AC Charts.

Back into the studio went Thadeus Project and the result was a CD titled Simple Wisdom. Mastered by Grammy award winning engineer Bob Katz (author of the highly regarded book/bible of mastering Mastering Audio: The Art and the Science), the first single, "Picture Book," went to #14 on the Indie AC charts, receiving tremendous airplay across the country. "Rivertown" is the second release and is moving faster across the airwaves and up the charts than "Picture Book."

When Cleaning Services and Contractors go wrong

By: Joe Neves (Smart Cleanings UK Limited)

Does your cleaning contractor understand your cleaning needs? Are your premises cleaned to the possible highest standards and the daily cleaning well documented? Is the communication good enough?

Huuummmm ! I see, ...

Before any kind of service agreement is signed a consultant / manager form the cleaning contractor service should pay you a visit and asses the overall needs of the facility. The consultant should be able to translate your concerns into specific methodology that will satisfy the cleaning requirements of your business.

Are the cleaning Cleaning Contractors flexible enough?

Offices are always changing aesthetic and landscape especially when to move to various locations within the building. This shift of furnishings and equipment requires different sanitation and cleaning requirements. Your service provider should have the right facilities and specifications to be able to handle a shift in cleaning needs.

Having a cleaning contractor that welcomes feedback is a keeper. Feedback should be more than your standard daily cleaning records and survey forms that are filled out and see no results for specific changes to your comments and requests, ...

At Smart Cleanings UK Limited we offer and provide all that without exceptions, and we also go the extra mile making sure that you and your members of staff are completely satisfied with our services.

Info about swine flu

The virus was first identified in Mexico in April 2009. It has since become a pandemic, which means it has spread around the globe. It has spread quickly because it is a new type of flu virus that few, if any, people have full resistance to.

Flu pandemics are a natural event that occur from time to time. Last century, there were flu pandemics in 1918, 1957 and 1968, when millions of people died across the world.

High-risk groups:

Some people are more at risk of complications if they catch swine flu, and need to start taking antivirals as soon as it is confirmed that they have the illness. Doctors may advise some high-risk patients to take antivirals before they have symptoms, if someone close to them has swine flu.

It is already known that people are particularly vulnerable if they have:

chronic (long-term) lung disease,

chronic heart disease,

chronic kidney disease,

chronic liver disease,

chronic neurological disease (neurological disorders include motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease),

immunosuppression (whether caused by disease or treatment), or

diabetes mellitus.

Also at risk are:

patients who have had drug treatment for asthma in the past three years,

pregnant women,

people aged 65 and over, and children under 5 years old.

The Truth About Mold

The Truth About Mold

Mold becomes a problem inside a home when there is an excessive humidity or moisture. The problem can originate from sudden water releases, like a burst pipe or large spill, or a chronic condition such as a leaking roof or plumbing. Even high humidity or warm, moist air condensing on cool surfaces can trigger mold problems. It’s always best to have the mold assessed and removed by a certified professional.

Mold can grow almost anywhere in a home if conditions permit. If there is visible growth on painted wall surfaces, a homeowner should be concerned about what may be growing on the opposite side. The environment inside the walls of a house often differs drastically from the outside and could create a perfect haven for mold. If the wall was wet for a prolonged period, it’s almost guaranteed that the mold growth on the back side will be worse than on the front. At that point, containing the work space and removing moldy materials, followed by cleaning of salvageable framing, are the best options.

The non-profit Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) recommends that homeowners contact a certified professional to ensure that mold is removed correctly and occupants are protected throughout the job. Typically, to contain and prevent further contamination, certified professionals can:

1. Verify that the moisture source has been eliminated or repaired

2. Contain the area to prevent cross contamination

3. Create negative pressure using specialized air filtration devices to prevent mold spores from spreading to unaffected areas

4. Recommend an indoor environmental professional to sample and evaluate the mold problem

5. Vacuum affected areas using equipment with high efficiency filters

6. Isolate, remove and properly dispose of heavily contaminated materials

7. HEPA vacuum exposed pockets of growth

Home Mold Invasion

Home Mold Invasion

Balmy summer weather not only encourages outdoor activities, but it may promote indoor activity as well. Mold growth may increase because of the warm, moist conditions that this season always brings.

For small children, the elderly and allergy and asthma sufferers, mold can be a real problem. It can trigger a variety of symptoms, including irritation, allergies, asthma and even sinus and respiratory infections. To help keep mold at bay this summer, the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) offers these tips:

  • Clean and Dry -- Clean soap scum and soil off bath walls and fixtures with disinfectants or "mildew removers." Turn on vent fans before showering. Wipe excess moisture off shower walls.

  • "No Moisture, No Mold" -- Check for mold growing around windows and door entries. Locate and eliminate moisture sources; then dry out materials and clean affected areas carefully with household detergents. Check for water drainage toward the house. Address basement moisture problems.

  • Stop the Drops -- Get leaks fixed promptly. If a water pipe bursts, get professional help immediately. Make sure affected areas are properly repaired, dried and cleaned.

The Truth About Sewage

The Truth About Sewage

Sewage is one of the most dangerous substances that can enter buildings. Unfortunately, people don’t understand the hazards that sewage creates, particularly for small children, the elderly and those with immune system or respiratory problems. The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) offers these facts to dispel some typical myths.

  1. Sewage from oceans, lakes or rivers is clean. This water contains contaminants such as microorganisms, bacteria and pesticides. Trapped inside walls or under floor coverings, it doesn’t take long to become a “smelly” health hazard.
  2. Chlorine bleach decontaminates sewage. While bleach is a remedy, it’s quickly inactivated by sewage. Even dead fungi and bacteria may contain chemicals that cause an allergic response. Affected areas should be cleaned thoroughly, followed by appropriate disinfectant application.
  3. Sewage-saturated carpets can be “saved.” Absolutely not! Porous materials, such as carpet, pad, upholstery, bedding, wicker, paper goods, or fabrics that can’t be washed in hot water, must be disposed of safely.
  4. Partially sewage-flooded buildings are safe. Not unless contaminated areas can be sealed off to prevent cross-contamination of other areas. Only trained professionals using specialized equipment are qualified to restore sewage damage.

Keeping Your Furniture Clean & Prolonging The Beauty Of Your Upholstery

Keeping Your Furniture Clean & Prolonging The Beauty Of Your Upholstery

You just bought furniture for the living room, so how do you maintain its fresh new appearance?

To keep your furniture clean, its necessary to conduct routine maintenance, including periodic cleaning by a certified technician every 12 to 24 months. Furniture and fabric manufacturers recommend that consumers not wait until sever soiling occurs before cleaning because the greater the soiling, the less the likelihood of restoring the fabric's original color, appearance, and texture, and the greater adverse effect on indoor environmental quality.

  • Regular cleaning by a professional cleaning company can help restore your upholstery's appearance, extend its life, and keeping it looking "like new". In addition, certified professionals can offer simple suggestions to maintain a clean and healthy environment. These tips often include:

  • Control soil by using arm caps and rotating seat cushions frequently to prolong life and appearance of areas prone to wear and tear.

  • Remove dry soil by vacuuming and, depending on the fabric, brushing to remove dust and soil particles.

  • Increased cleaning may be required when fabric is subjected to heavy use, or when it is located in homes occupied with persons with allergies or respiratory sensitivity.
